Imports of sheep and goats are limited because of smallpox. The relevant information is available on the website of the Department of Veterinary and Food Inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
In this regard, from September 25, temporary restrictions are imposed on the importation from these areas of slaughter, hunting and breeding sheep and goats, wild animals, milk and dairy products from these animals, leather, wool and fluff.
Pox of sheep and goats is a particularly dangerous disease characterized by fever and formation of epithelium of the skin and mucous membranes of papular and pustular lesions. Ospe sheep of all ages and breeds are defeated. In natural conditions, sheep are more often infected when they come into contact with sick animals. If the benign form of smallpox mortality does not exceed 2-3%, then in the complicated forms it reaches 100%.
