Gruzavtotrans National Association of Freight Road Transport appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a proposal to foresee the possibility of recovering detriment for infrastructure damage due to exceeding the allowable weight of lots of agricultural products being transported both from transport companies and cargo owners, the Kommersant newspaper informs, citing on the letter of the association.
The document emphasizes that more than 60% of agricultural products are still transported in excess of the permissible weight.
The newspaper interlocutors and interviewed industry experts were skeptical of this idea. One of them says that, in fact, the association proposes to shift all costs to its own clients. Another interlocutor notes that the adoption of such a measure would have a negative impact on agricultural producers.
